Doesn't work at 100T.

Strengths: Works with D-Link DFL-200 router to connect to the Internet.

Weakness: Very poor ethernet transfers at 100T. Runs hot.

This switch promises data transfers at "wire speed." Well, when I directly connect my two computers together with a crossover cable I can transfer data at 6 MBps with 100T ethernet cards and default Windows 2000 TCP/IP settings (7 MBps when I set RWIN to 5840 and activate timestamps). When I connect using this switch, the transfers refuse to budge past 100 KBps, which is obviously only a tiny...

DLink 5 port Gigabit Switch

Strengths: Fast swtiching and transmission; plug and play; no configuration needed; non blocking; auto sensing; LED differentiation for 10/100/1000 connections

Weakness: throughput reduced when mixing 10 or 100 with 1000 Mbps connections in the same switch

As an entry level 5-port Gibabit switch, D-Link DGS-1005D performs quite well. If you frequently transfer large data files like video files between PCs, this switch is a must have since it cuts the file transfer time by around 90%. Files accessing and retrieving from the network is almost the same as from the local PC if the source and destination PCs support Gigabit ethernet. However, there is...

Works well, lasts a long time

Strengths: Small footprint, just about idiot proof, shows speed of each port

Weakness: None so far

This is an easy way to expand your network, and upgrade to gigabit speeds. Just plug it into your existing router, and presto, you've got 4 more ports you can use. It auto-senses the speed of each port and the LED will show you what the speed is, so you don't have to guess if you have a 1000/100/10 connection. The small footprint means it fits/hides just about anywhere.

Excellent Gigabit Switch

Strengths: Small, Compact, Light

Weakness: None

I purchased the DGS-1005D on 1/22 and have been very happy with it. Install was easy, just plug in the power adapter and your Cat5 cables and your done. If you need a gigabit switch, for $40 (+$10 rebate) you can't do much better.

The d-link 5 port gig switch is a...

Strengths: fast. shows me speeds of computers connected. slip grip feet

Weakness: ratels when moved. doesnt show any thing for computer connected at 10mb

The d-link 5 port gig switch is a great product, made by a name brand company. It really speeded up my network from going to a 10mb hub to a gig switch. And the product also stacks nicely with other d-link products.
