I then tried to slow it down a bit and that helped somewhat. So then I decided I should go back to 12 pipes as it was obvious that one or more of the extra 4 were damaged. This is when I discovered that my original bios that I had Saved to a floppy was corrupt. It would not take no matter what. So I flashed my bios agine with another X800Pro bios. My card went back to a Pro except for the extra 4 pipes. I'm still stuck with damaged pipes.

I've been playing this card with not so good graphics since I screwed it up and I've gotten tired of this so I just bought a BFG 6800GT overclocked and it's in transit to me now. From all I've read it sounds good and it has 16 pipelines, 24/7 service and lifetime warrenty.

I'd recomend this card to anyone but I would not recomend flashing unless you are willing to suffer to consiquences it may bring.

This video card is for the gaming enthusiast that not only wants a high performing graphics card, but one that operates silently. The ATI X800 Pro performance is certainly at the top level. It plays any game on the market without immediate concerns for being out of date on upcoming titles. However, ATI drivers have a bad reputation for certain games, and unfortunately I experienced that firsthand. The first issue I had, which is subsequently been resolved with driver updates, was Call of Duty. More recently however, Rome, Total War, gave me issues with the fast rights enabled. With a little bit of searching and tweaking, and of course more recent driver updates, is isn't a problem any longer.

Anyway, while not advised, the Sapphire X800 Pro Vivo is one of the very few cards that can be over clocked through the BIOS. My card shipped with the 1.6 nm ram making this possible, and allowing the jump from 12 pipelines to a full 16.

Several benchmarks ran smoothly with practically null lag and superior frame rates, even with higher resolutions. The flagship of ATI is no longer the X800, but a simple search will yield numerous reviews of the power this card holds, just waiting to be unlocked. When playing Half-Life 2, ATI is the clear winner, and that was my primary reason for buying this card.

You will also not be disappointed with the full version of this card that came bundled with:

1. Prince of Persia Sands of Time
2. Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow
3. Power DVD 5.0
4. Redline Overclocking Utility (I prefer and recommend ATI Tool)


To that end, for the price, it is well-worth it.

An excellent overclocker!

Strengths: You can soft mod it to X800XT Platinum

Weakness: Can't find warrent info of the card on its box, manual or at manufacturer's website.

I have been using it for about a year now(I ordered it exactly on 12/08/04). Water cooled and overclocked it ever since I got it. I tried not to maximize its core and memory to those of X800XT Plat's because it was unstable when I did, but little lower was good enough. The price is higher than what I paid for though. At that time, it was good purchase.
